Oh dear!

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse – it did! England managed to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. I know that’s an exaggeration but when a team is up by almost a hundred runs, have 9 wickets in hand and only one day to go, you could be forgiven for assuming that it would be a guaranteed draw. Instead the England middle-order collapsed and left the Aussies an easy lope home to win. I won’t go on about this any longer but if you can bear the agony the scorecard in all its grisly detail is here.
I’ve just come back from my health check for the visa. It’s actually not much fun being a patient. Sitting in waiting rooms for what seems like hours with boring health awareness posters the only reading material. They told me my blood pressure was too high (139/67 in case you were wondering) – no wonder after tackling the M6! Then there were lots of boring questions before they took my blood and let me on my way. For the priviledge of all this I was charged over £200. It had better bloody be worth it! Unfortunately no sign of the visa still, but the approval from the college should come through this week. At least everything is in place and there shouldn’t be any obstacle to going to the High Commission in London once I have the go-ahead.
