The joys of house hunting
Posted on Thursday 8th February 2007
It’s now over a week since I arrived and am hopefully settling in. Fortunately work is pretty much what I was expecting and it’s been easy enough to find my feet there.
The house hunting project is now under way. We’re a little restricted in that we need a rental property that is pet friendly. For obvious reasons many places specifically state ‘No Pets’. While this feels like they are being unreasonable, I can understand why owners might not want animals in their house. Having said that none of them have limitations on children, and I’m sure a rowdy 2 year old will cause far more damage than our cats. My major requirement is decent air-conditioning. It’s been very hot here recently, and topped 42 degrees last weekend, so cool air is an absolute must.
It’s difficult to make an concerted efforts while I’m at work. Perhaps next week I can start looking at properties properly and hopefully find something fairly soon. While I am very grateful to Regan’s parents for their hospitality I remember the maxim: “House guests are like fish …. after a while they both stink”. There seems to be a number of places available at the moment so I will produce a picture of our new house-to-be as soon as possible.
I’ve updated the post below to include a picture of my gym here. I did the 10,000km row again, so I hope the slacking in Leicester is over.
