Worked to the bone

I didn’t go to the gym today, but before anyone calls me a slacker perhaps they would like also heft boxes and make furniture for 9 hours. Our house has been cleaned to a good standard so I started assembling all the IKEA furniture we bought yesterday. Some of the boxes were pretty heavy so now it’s the end of the day I’m feeling physically drained and achy all over. This is just the start of it as there is a load more to do tomorrow. In a manner of speaking I’ve had it easy today as most of the construction work has been for the ground floor. Tomorrow there is our bed and a chest of drawers to make. Both these items weigh around 45kg, and while this isn’t that excessive a weight to lift, you must remember the boxes are an awkward size. Getting them up a doubled-back staircase is not going to be easy. Once it’s all done we can move in and start adding to the place. To start with it will have a minimalist feel, as ecomony has dictated getting only the essentials and cheap ones at that.
When there is some art on the wall and we have made the place look more homely I’ll post some more pics of the house. Unfortunately we couldn’t get rid of the hideous curtains throughout, so please mentally erase them from the images! Also be aware I made a mistake with our landline number. It is actually: + 61 8 8340 8841. Oops!

Glad to hear that Regan arrived OK and that you finally found a place to live.
Not sure any of us can ignore the ghsstly curtains though. Maybe the Cats could do something with them on their arrival.
I sympathise with the Ikea furniture building, I trust that all the bits are there unlike the MFI of the past
Oh, and that the instructions are in English and not Japanese. Guess you will be going to work for a rest

One thing I would you to comment on is the cost of living in comparison with the UK, Just curious.
Hi Ric guess il avto agree with tony the cats can sort the curtains out also i bet you were board senseless building all that furniture.Cannot blame you for no training after all that
i know, i know. those curtains are hideous, but we’re stuck with them.
the cats are paroled on the 21st. they’d better not wreck the place or i’ll have them de-clawed.
fortunately the IKEA stuff was pretty easy to build – you can’t fault the swedes on their designs. of course, we now have a huge collection of allan keys!
