Bingled, stacked, pranged

However you describe it with local colloqualisms the net result is the same. Last night I joined another statistic group and was involved in a car accident. Fortunately I wasn’t the guilty party – that was Mr Van H Nguyen who decided that cars pulling out of side roads had right-of-way over cars travelling on a main road. He clearly wasn’t looking as he made no attempt to brake. Thankfully no-one was hurt and there is only relatively minor damage to my car – see this photo:
(the rest are here). The rear near-side panel has been badly creased and the back bumper is scratched and dented. He also managed to damage the trim under the wheelwell which has started to impinge on the tyre causing a worrying grating sound.
It’s at times like this that you realise the value of having insurance. The Swift is covered with CGU who will take all the hassle factor out of getting it fixed. I’ve already lodged the claim and the car has been assessed for repairs. It was just my luck to get hit before the Easter holiday weekend, so the earliest the repairs will be done is middle of next week.
I suppose I should consider myself lucky as the other driver is insured, so we can claim against his policy with no impact on my no-claims rating and no excess to pay. The greatest annoyance is that the poor car is only 2 months old and has already been tainted. Once it’s back to its former glory I’ll be a lot happier. I was warned that Adelaide drivers are a dozy bunch and don’t pay attention half the time, so in a way this should really be much of a surprise, but still it was a pretty crass error on his part.
Drive safe!

The main thing is you guys are OK, i hope things get sorted quick with the insurance and payout for the car, unlike ENGLAND where it takes a good few years.
All the lads over here are thinking about your car
if only all the silly twits organising mmc would be in a car crash it might actually make their brain cells work, rather than messing around the few of us left working in england.
Oh dear thats not good id be well you know what especially being only 2months old.Just as long your both ok and his insurance pays.
