Getting your priorites right

There’s a lot to be said in favour of Australia. I’m sure there isn’t another nation that puts life on hold, and declares a national holiday mid-week just to watch a horse race. The Melbourne Cup is the local equivalent of the Grand National, yet for a reason lost in the mists of time is run on the first Tuesday in November rather than on a weekend. It has become a major event in the social and sporting calendar and the whole country grinds to a halt while watching it.
I think it’s great that Australians have prioritised this over work and don’t take life quite so seriously. Even we downed tools and went to the staff room to watch it. A sweepstake went round earlier in the day and I picked No. 24 Mahler. As luck would have it, that horse came in third and I made a cool $10. Pity I didn’t put a real bet on it!

Hi Ric yeah that is a shame but i dont see you as a real gambler and its only a bit of fun
