Four down, two to go

I had my health check today – the human equivalent of putting a car up on the hoist. Fortunately all my particulars were normal, in fact the doctor asked whether I did marathons as apparently my resting heart rate was 50 beats a minute. Otherwise my blood pressure, urinalysis and BMI were all within normal limits.
Then it was a quick trip to get a chest X-ray, which the radiographer let me look at after finding out I look at other people’s all day. It looked normal enough to me, but we still have to wait for the official report.
Finally I had to go to the cop shop to get my police check. On the initial look-see their computer hadn’t even heard of me, which is probably a good sign. It has to go off to the federal police service in Canberra, but hopefully they will be as ignorant of my existence as their South Australian colleagues.
So all I have to do is wait till the results come in and then lodge my visa. If the local office are as expiditious as the one in London then there should be plenty of time. The final stage remaining is to get my Australian Medical Council registration and then I should be good for another year.
This is all a monumental pain in the arse and once this is all over I am going to try to get a permanent resident visa. There is a procedural route available, but it is more complicated and expensive. However it will be worth it to avoid going through this rigmarole every time I change jobs.

That is strange well im sure things will work out mate
