In Pursuit of Perfection

I’m talking about our search for a new home. Our current one has been fine for the year, but is of poor design. In a water-poor state it has no rainwater collection system. More importantly it is poorly energy inefficient and our electricity bill has almost doubled this summer by running the aircon.
So now we’re on the hunt and have a check list of desirable features:
- As little carpet as possible - so the cats won’t have anything to rip up
- No curtains - for the same reason
- Aircon - preferably ducted, but a single unit will do. Living in South Australia without it would be extremely uncomfortable
- A garage - we use the one in our current house for storage, but it is useful to be able to put the car away
- A yard/garden with as little grass as possible - for the same reason as not wanting carpet or curtains
- Located in North Adelaide - so we’re near amenities and within cycling distance of work
- Plenty of storage space - for all those CDs, DVDs and other miscellaneous crap we’ve accumulated yet again
Unfortunately it’s extremely difficult to find somewhere that ticks all the right boxes. We’ve seen some nice places that come close but so far no cigar. I’m sure we’ll find something suitable soon - we have to as we’ll be evicted from our current house in 6 weeks time!

Best of luck mate for the search for your new home even though doesnt give you much time
