Second Class Citizens

As you will already know we are shortly due to move out of Brown Street and relocate to North Adelaide. The letting agents are now in the full throes of getting us out. Rather than being helpful and facilitating our departure, they are treating us like those guests left at the end of a long party. We are under no illusions that they see us as an inconvenience. I know they will always be keener to act in the interests of the owner, since they are their representatives, but a little equity would be appreciated.
We have received a very cold and slightly insulting letter implying that if the house if left in anything other than mint condition, we will have to sell our (non-existent) first born to pay them off. This is intensely irritating since they handed the house over in a less-than clean condition. We have photographic evidence of this but I suspect they would play hardball if we decided to argue the issue. Another irritations is having to have the house fumigated at great expense since they think the cats have fleas. The pest control guy we’ve employed was a little bemused as to why he was being asked to fumigate a house without infestation.
I will feel a palpable sense of relief once this is all sorted out and we are clear of the place. And breathe ……

That is appalling. It shows a spectacular inability on their part to play fair.
Deepest sympathy -and don’t forget to notify us when you have moved of your new address!
Best,
Ed
Cuz that sounds absolutely awful. I suggest berating them in a British accent and start threatening to send over a gunboat. Il make the necessary arrangements and we will be sipping Singapore Slings in Burma before you can shout ‘Harry Flashman was the greatest man to never live’
Sorry to hear about that, but sadly with rental properties this is altogether too common, with the agent refusing to return the deposit because of x and y that was ‘damaged; as you’ve done, it is always good practice to take photos/video before moving in. Some contracts even require proof of professional cleaning, even when the property was not clean wehn the tenant moved in! At least your new rental looks much better so you’ll soon forget about all this hassle.
Sorry to hear that seems they are trying to pull a fast one over both of you sometimes you try to be honest and it doesnt pay
