Quiet on here, busy at work
Posted on Friday 21st March 2008
I’ve not had a chance to post much on here lately as our workload at the hospital has been higher than normal. It might be the run-up to the Easter weekend, but unexpectedly our admission rate and severity of illness has been above normal. Last night I was the acting on-call consultant and became embroiled in dealing with sick patients and resolving logistical issues. One downside of escalating rank is a decreasing clinical role with proportionally increasing political emphasis. This meant that rather than actually being involved in the shopfloor resuscitation process of some of the sicker patients, I spent time trying to ensure they landed in the correct bed and other teams became involved. In the end I didn’t get home till after midnight and then had to be in again at 8 o’clock this morning. Needless to say I’m a little jaded this evening.
Rather than being tired I’m upbeat as my parents and sister will be arriving here in 2 days time. The temperature is much more bearable at the moment so it shouldn’t be so much of a shock to them as last week’s weather. This will be the first time I have seen them since January last year and we will have much to catch up with. We will probably be quite busy so this site may be quiet during the next few weeks, but I will post pictures of antything interesting we get up to.

Hear from you soon seasons greetings
