Still here

I have actually been quite busy recently. I’m now all signed up for the retrieval service, have completed the orientation, and will be going out on my first “missions” next week. Work at the RAH ICU continues to occupy eight days a fortnight and we have been extremely busy lately. In fact yesterday the unit was entirely full for the first time. This obviously presents a problem as the only wasy to get a new patient is to turf out an existing one - easier said than done. My research project at the QEH is starting and we have enrolled the first patients into the pilot study. It seems like a long time ago that we did the original proposal, so I’m glad we are finally on the way.
On the personal front I am now a qualified Open Water Diver and completed all of the requirements so could now go and dive anywhere in the world. To maintain the momentum I have also signed up to do the Advanced qualification which allows greater freedom, like the ability to dive deeper, at night and with different gas mixtures. Then in amongst all of that I’m trying to revise for the ICU exam next year.
So there you are - all up to date. I’m trying to get an underwater camera case so I can take some photos underwater and you can finally see me in all my gear. When I go out in the helicopter for the first time I’ll try to get some photos so you can get an idea of what we do at work too. Watch this space.

crumbs rick, you HAVE been busy!!!!
well done!
…that seems like enough reasons to neglect the blog!
