Heaven …. I’m in Heaven

Credit to Fred Astaire for this one. To continue with classics and introduce the theme for today, recently Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head and I’ve been Singing in the Rain.
By now I’m sure the penny will have dropped – the rain doing likewise in Adelaide. We’ve been enjoying what will probably be the last changeable weather of the season. Yet again many of my colleagues have seen the rain as an inconvenience but the perverse hydrophile in me has welcomed it. The only downside has been having to cycle through it on my way to work. Getting wet doesn’t bother me too much; it is more the erratic and unpredictable way Adelaide drivers behave when the roads are slippery that is of concern.
Our garden has been enjoying it too and everything is growing well including the lavender we were recently given by Regan’s aunt. It’s saved us a lot of work as nature is taking care of the watering and we haven’t needed to waste tap water. I still think it’s a shame that the majority of the water falling on the city will run out to sea rather than being captured. Hopefully enough will collect in the reservoirs and aquifers to ease the strain on the ailing Murray.
Before I go, a couple of images to share the experience of spring in South Australia. Firstly the recent storms have created some striking lightning displays:

And the recent rains have overwhelmed the natural drainage channels and creeks leading to some spectacular flash flooding:

There will be many sunny days to show photos of later in the summer, so I’m sharing these to prove it does occasionally rain even in the driest state in the driest inhabited continent.
