Out with the old
Posted on Wednesday 21st January 2009
Yet another year has flown by and it’s almost time to move on again. In less than two weeks I will be leaving the RAH ICU and starting my new job with the newly formed South Australian Retrieval Service. Fortunately I won’t be going far, and for at least the first month or so, we will be working in the old Mediflight base which is just round the corner from the ICU.
Two of my current colleagues are moving onto the Retrieval roster with me, one of our other colleagues is already in post and will be staying on, and I’ve worked with the other two before. This should make us a fairly tight bunch especially since we are all boys. If anything we will have to try to behave and not muck about too much.
Unfortunately this also means some of our friends are moving on. A special mention, therefore, for Henrik who will be back in beautiful, freezing, rainy Oxford by now. Also I’ll share a photo of “The Retrieval Lads” taken on the helipad during Henrik’s last shift with Mediflight (be patient mate, the rest are in the post to you).

This marks the handover of the baton from outgoing to incoming team. I’ll post more information on the new service, our altered job descriptions and, if you’re lucky, some pics of us in our sexy new red flight suits.
