Toor Dairnunda

Try to say this with an Aussie twang and the end result should sound like Paul Hogan saying “Tour Down Under“.
For those not in the loop it has been all over the media here, with a less conspicuous presence elsewhere. The Tour de France is the best known cycle racing series in the calendar and probably the only one most people could name off the top of their heads. However the Tour Down Under is now in it’s 11th year and vying to be one of the big names in cycling. It achieved more popularity this year with the addition of Lance Armstrong to the line-up.
This is good for Adelaide and helps raise awareness of the city and South Australia in general at a time when we are struggling with water shortages and fallout from the global recession. It is a welcome addition to the Fringe Festival, Clipsal 500 and the Wine Festival in putting Adelaide on the map and dispelling the myth that it is the largest small town.
Regan took part in the public leg of the tour today. Unfortunately Lance was up with the professionals pack so we don’t have any pictures to show of him, but it was still a nice opportunity for her to try out the new bike provided by the insurance company. Unfortunately I was at work, again, but there is always next year.
