Woa…ah, we’re halfway there

Yes I know, but I couldn’t find a better song reference that summed up what I wanted to say.
To get to the point, the research project I told you about last year is going well. We have recruited our 70th patient so, given we were after 140, this marks the halfway point. This has only taken 4 months which also puts us on course to finish by June, which is well within schedule. Thereafter we will have a great deal of work to do. Enrolling patients and data collection is the easy bit. Analysing it will be far more difficult and will require entering reams of information into a database for statistical testing.
I am also pleased to announce that our project is no official. We have been recognised by ClinicalTrials.gov, which is a well-respected clearing house and monitor for human research projects. This means that we have been ratified as conducting a valid study and can be referenced by other researchers. Do check out our page on the site at: http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00718068.
I’ll update you when we have completed recruitment and are ready to start crunching data. I suspect this will also coincide with my sitting the FJFICM exam, so further progress will have to wait until after I’ve leaped that hurdle.
