Well, maybe his standing as an acclaimed gardening expert isn’t in immediate threat. I am getting a little ahead of myself, but am pleased that life is springing up in our back garden.
By way of context, the green-fingered gene in our family definitely skipped me, and I have inadvertently killed or lost numerous plants over the years. This , despite careful attention on most occasions.
So now, to see a number of neglected plants thrive is gratifying to say the least. The most surprising being a shrub that I had completely given up on. Having not watered it for all of last summer, I was amazed to see some signs of life sprout over winter. Now, with careful watering and feeding, it is growing well and seems none the worse for my neglect.
Spurred on by this good omen, I have acquired a number of other plants. These were chosen carefully with many being indigenous to South Australia. Hopefully, in-bred acclimatisation will give them the edge in survival.
To close, some images of the progress thus far … with hopefully more to follow as they benefit from the warmth of summer.

Well done, sir! We have no garden here – and the cats keep eating sam’s hibiscus. may have to invest in a wondow box, or something…
