That’s it for the paperwork …

… now we just need to wait. Until the next set of course.
I’ve finally managed to accumulate and complete all of the forms and requirements necessary to apply for my Fellowship certificate with the Intensive Care college. It’s been a while and some of the box-tick exercises have been baffling and tedious.
Obviously, the biggest “box” was the exam, but with that out of the way, it was just the final set of training forms to go. And, just when I thought they were all done, another one popped out of the ether. But now the last elusive signature has been acquired and it’s now in the hands of the college.
The net result is that, within the next couple of months, I will get my certificate and be able to apply to the local medical board for Specialist status. Hopefully this will coincide with arrival of my AMC certificate. This means I can apply for full, rather than limited, acceptance onto the specialist register.
Sound complicated? My head is hurting just from trying to explain it, so I imagine that it must even more impenetrable to anyone other than a dedicated civil servant. And it all just confirms my suspicion that Australia does bureaucracy like no-one else. Oh well, I guess it creates jobs as it takes someone of genuine talent to create protocols of such pointless complexity.
